Last but not least...

So the year is finally over and i am happy to report that i finished a whole entire AP photo portfolio!.. even though i can take a sigh of relief, i am a bit upset that it is all over. Taking this course really set my mind on photography, which i am glad because i have to admit i was at a loss with my self when it came to my future, now i know that i certainly want to carry on my passion for photography into a career. I learned to come out of my shell in this class! specially when it came to critiques, because now i understand that even though you ask everyone what they think of a photograph or piece of art, as long as you accept it it is a good piece of work, the critiques are just minor inputs from fellow artist to tell you how they would take that photo. In future i am hoping to intern with a fashion photographer this summer, and completely emerge my self into learning lighting and proper aspects of professional photography, and hopefully attend university to pursue my dream.

Final Artist Statement

The central Idea of my concentration is the display of growth, change, and development of women throughout the past and present, not just individually through personality traits, but through fashion trends and attitudes. My inspiration for this idea was essentially adapted through the study of women around me, from my grandmother who was a former model and wears a coat of class, to my cousin who is a current model who is seen as a wild child by society. Throughout the first 4 photos i focus a lot on the basic fashion changes between than and now. Than in the transition into the next 4 photographs i am still focusing on the fashion changes as well as incorporating facial expressions, to play an emphasis on the time change in attitudes. In the last 4 photographs i continue to show the changes in fashion in attitudes, while playing around with the angles of the photographs and the lighting. (the photos are all mixed up unfortunately in this post)

Narrative Panorama

So my younger sister is quite the one with expressions, she never hides it, and never will, if she feels shy she feels shy, if she is mad well than she is going to make sure everyone knows it! i dont think it is a bad thing, because hey, we could all use a little bit more emotion!

Funky Darkroom Tricks!

So the assignment on the funky darkroom tricks was really fun to do, but the smell of developer that stayed on my hands for hours afterwards was not!... for my funky trick i took one of my photos, exposed the photo paper, and instead of dipping the whole sheet of exposed paper in the developer i would but my hand in the developer and splash it on, i think the effect came out pretty awesome.

concentration proposal

My main idea for my concentration from the beginning was supposed to be fashion, but that being to broad i decided to incorporate fashion into a idea of mine. The world changes through time, together, but nobody really stops and notices the minor details that changes with the times, for instance; women. Little habits and aspects of women's behaviors and attitudes inside and out have changed so incredibly since the 1920's /1930's to todays day, and with that i hope to express that through my series of 12 photographers, from fashions, to the way women sit, to how we are looked at society will be expressed, using strong aspects of fashion and beauty photography.

Howard Schatz

Howard Schatz is my favorite photographer by far. Schatz has the amazing ability of taking anything and i mean ANYTHING and making it look like the most beautiful thing in the world!... Schatz has inspired me more than any other beauty photographer because of his amazing talent to rid the world of disgust. He actually, well in my opinion, creates a whole new BEAUTIFUL world just through his lens. My favorite collection of his is the cirque du soliel collection, where he makes the creepiest of creepy clowns look gorgeous and one of a kind. A good photographer should bring emotion to his photos, not just point and shoot, and thats the one thing about Schatz that never lacks!

Nigel Barker

Nigel Barker is a world renowned fashion/beauty photographer. He inspires me to be a beauty photographer in more ways than one, but the most inspiring factor is how he fell upon photography!... He at first wanted to be a doctor and was brilliant in the left-brained field as well, all until he did a favor for his mom and entered a fashion show. He was the top model, and France and England were convinced they had the next "it" guy on the catwalk. But Nigel soon found in himself the ability to look through the camera instead of looking and walking towards it. Although Nigel lacks the ability to make the ugliest things in life astoundingly beautiful, he still can bring out the strong points in a person. Nigel Barker is one of my favorite photographers and his work is one of a kind.
